Pat Harris puts on a 5 goal show on Day 1 at Cal Cup
May 22, Moorpark, CA: Cal Cup 2009 started today with play in the super divisions with five women matches and five men matches. Rush’d a team of current and former usa national players led by Carrie Lingo showed why they are the team to reckon with for the ladies crown, as eight different players scored for 10-0 hammering of Pacific Impact. Rush’d followed later in the afternoon with a 4-0 win over the 2006 champions Monarcas. Monarcas had started the day’s proceedings with 3-0 win over California on the strength of two goals from Gohar Harutyunyan, a former national player from Ukraine. Read more...

Favorites Continue Their Winning Ways on Day 2 at Cal Cup 2009
May 23, Moorpark, CA: Day 2 at Cal Cup 2009 produced some exciting matches in both super divisions. However, form prevailed as favorites continued their winning ways. Jolie Pitts started the day with an easy 4-1 win over Monarcas but the Dirty Birds got more than they bargained for from a stubborn Beach Bums team, finally prevailing over them 2-0 with both goals coming from the stick of Mark Pearson. The Dirty Birds later secured top position in men’s pool B by defeating the Cougars by the same score. Cougars and USA Juniors are to fight it out on Sunday morning for the second position in pool B and the right to face Ciudad de Buenos Aires in the semifinal later in the day. Read more...

Buenos Aires and Vancouver’s Dirty Birds in Cal Cup 2009 finals
May 24, Moorpark, CA: Ignacio Manes started the scoring in the second minute for Ciudad de Buenos Aires against an stubborn yet unlucky Cougars and closed out the scoring on beautiful fast break counter, set up by Facundo Callioni, at the 41st minute in a highly charged semifinal match in front of large partisan crowd for a 3-2 victory. Third Cal Cup Crown for Buenos Aires: Rush’d win Women’s title
May 25, Moorpark, CA: The four days of non stop hockey in the beautiful setting of California hills came to an end with the 2-1 victory by Ciudad de Buenos Aires over the Dirty Birds from Vancouver, Canada at Cal Cup 2009. Buenos Aires also took the Cal Cup title in 2005 and beat the Dirty Birds in the 2006 finals. Read more...
